Cost of treatments
Orthodontic treatment is free of charge.
The cost of a treatment varies according to the pathology, the type of appliance and the duration (from 6 to 36 months).
Before the age of 16
Orthodontic treatments are covered by Health Insurance :
- Subject to obtaining the prior agreement of your Social Security Fund
- And if they're started before the child's sixteenth birthday
The amount covered by Social Security is always the same, whatever the practitioner and the type of appliance, namely 193.50€ per semester. The request for prior agreement :
- Complete a Treatment Guarantee Application (Form S3150) with your practitioner.
- Then send it to the consultant dentist at your health insurance company.
- In case of refusal, your Health Insurance company will send you, within 15 days, a notification indicating the reasons for the medical or administrative refusal.
- Beyond this 15-day period, if you do not receive a response from your Health Insurance company, consider your application to have been accepted.
The agreement of your Health Insurance company is valid for 6 months. You must therefore start treatment within 6 months of the request for prior agreement. Beyond this period, the costs will not be covered. Each semester, a new request for prior agreement must be renewed. Reimbursements are made at the end of the semester.
The difference between the fees and the Social Security reimbursement may be covered, partially or totally, by your complementary health organisation. It is important to check with your mutual insurance company as soon as possible. The restraint period (consolidation of the results obtained) is covered for a period of two years. Reimbursement rates vary depending on whether it is the first or second year of contention care.
After the age of 16
Treatment is at the patient's expense. Your complementary Organization will inform you of any conditions that may be included in your membership contract. Please note : in exceptional cases, a six-month period of treatment may be covered by Health Insurance if orthodontic preparation is necessary prior to maxillofacial surgery. The presentation of the surgeon's certificate is required. This semester is not renewable.
